What Our Customers Say
That was the best surf trip I have ever been on. Poggy and his crew would pick us up every morning, get us nice boards and take us to wherever was firing. I was in a group of 11 people and he ran everything smoothly. We all got a ton of waves and had a great experience.
Alex on our February East Coast Trip
One of the best surf experiences I have ever had, thanks to Poggy! He provides everything you’re looking for to have a great time and catch waves. Whether you’re a beginner looking for your first wave or an advanced surfer wanting to catch big waves and navigate the lineup, Poggy will not steer you wrong.
Owen on our February East Coast Trip
I learned lots about surfing and I made a new friend. Poggy is the best surfer and the island and an even better teacher. I will be texting poggy every time I step foot on Bali because he was that nice of a person.
Poggy deserves everything good in life and I know he will get it. If you are a beginner or very experienced he is the guy to go with. He knows all the spots and is extremely hesh. Live Like Poggy. Book his surf school.
Nate on our February East Coast Trip

My 10 friends and I just finished a five-day surf trip in Bali, and working with Poggy Surf School was hands down the best decision we made. From the moment we landed, everything was taken care of. They arranged rides the second we landed in Denpasar. We were picked up right away, which immediately took a huge weight off our shoulders and made the trip start smoothly.
From there, everything was organized for us without us having to stress about a single detail. They arranged rides to surf shops to rent boards we were familiar with compared to our boards at home and made sure everything was set up perfectly with the size, shape, and equipment. Every day we were taken to the correct surf spots based on tide, conditions, and skill level. The local knowledge and respect they have is unreal — we were always in the best possible place at the best possible time.
What really set this experience apart was the coaching. We received an endless amount of video footage, detailed video analysis, and hands-on coaching from high-level surfers who genuinely care about helping you improve. Whether you’re a beginner just learning to stand up or an advanced surfer trying to sharpen your technique, they tailor everything to your level. Every single person in our group improved over the five days.
The drivers, coaches, and filmers were all super friendly, so it was nice having that in an area that feels so far from home.
This trip would not have been the same without Poggy Surf School. We were so lucky to find them. It was a 10/10 experience — there is not a single thing I would change. On top of that, everything is very reasonably priced for the value you get.
If you’re going to Bali and want to surf, whether you’re brand new or experienced, you need to book through Poggy Surf School. It will completely elevate your trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
I have never surfed before. Can I still join a surf trip with you guys?
Absolutely! We would love to be a part of your first surfing experience!
A guided trip is the best way to start because we handle all the safety and ‘scary’ parts for you. We specialise in taking total beginners from their first time standing up to riding green waves with confidence. Our only requirement is that you know how to swim.
Plus, don’t worry if you’re traveling by yourself—most of our guests come alone!
What surf spots will I be taken to during my surf trip?
Wet Season (November–March)
During these months, the wind shifts, and we head to the East Coast, where the conditions are clean, glassy, and offshore. These are also the quieter months and our students often score incredible waves with fewer than five people in the lineup!
We don’t have a fixed itinerary because we follow the best daily swell, but our favourite spots include:
East Coast (Keramas Beach): Known for world-class right-handers that previously hosted the WSL Qualifying Series. When the wind is right, this area offers high-performance waves that are a favorite for our video analysis sessions and for those chasing barrels.
Nusa Dua: A perfect spot for all levels. Mushroom Beach and Blackrock offer mellow waves for beginners, while Geger offers left-hander, rippable walls for intermediates. When the swell is big, Geger and Niko Beach offer powerful rides and barrels that are a dream for experienced surfers.
Dry Season (April–October)
This is the best time for the West Coast and the Bukit Peninsula. During the dry season, the famous left-handers turn into perfection. Our playground during these months includes:
Uluwatu: With five different peaks, we find the spot that fits your level. High tide is great for intermediates, while the “Outside Corner” is for the chargers.
Padang Padang: Home to the famous Padang-Padang Cup for pros, but it also featuring a beautiful ‘Baby Padang’ right next door—the best place in Bali for beginners to learn on a gentle reef break.
Bingin & Impossibles: Consistent left-hander waves. Perfect for practicing your turns and getting that iconic “Bali Barrel” shot on camera.
Dreamland: A rare A-frame break with a sandy bottom, making it a favorite for advanced beginners and intermediate surfers looking to practice their takeoff on bigger, but mellow waves. With its forgiving waves and beautiful scenery, it is the perfect spot to build confidence, practice your pop-up, and enjoy a more relaxed session.
Balangan: A stunning, long left-hand reef break tucked beneath a dramatic cliffside. Balangan is a favorite for intermediate surfers looking to practice their down-the-line speed. At high tide, it offers a softer, more forgiving wave, perfect for beginners!
How far in advance should I book my surf trip?
To ensure we can provide the 10/10 experience, we recommend the following:
For Large Groups (5+ people): Please reach out to us at least one week prior to your arrival. Organising a seamless trip for a larger crew takes coordination, and we want to ensure we have our coaches, dedicated drivers, and professional videographers ready for you the moment you land.
During the Dry Season (April–October): This is our busiest month and we often reach full capacity. To avoid disappointment and secure your preferred dates, we recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance.
Last-Minute Bookings: Traveling solo or decided to surf last minute? Give us a shout on WhatsApp! While we recommend booking early, we always do our best to find a spot for you if we have the space. People drop out/cancel all the time so please do check with us and we will get back to you within the hour.
What is the best time of the year to do a surf trip to Bali?
The honest answer? Whenever you can get here! Bali is one of the few places on Earth with world-class waves 365 days a year. However, the ‘best’ time depends on what level you are and what you are looking for:
April – October (The Dry Season): Best for All Levels & Offshore Winds This is the peak surf season. The trade winds blow from the Southeast, making the West Coast (Uluwatu, Bingin, Padang Padang) perfectly offshore and glassy. If you want to see the legendary Bukit left-handers at their best, this is your window.
Why it’s perfect for beginners seeking serious progress: While the world’s best surfers are out at ‘The Peak,’ the consistency of the Dry Season swell creates the perfect learning environment at our beginner-friendly spots. You get more ‘reps’ and more time on the board because the waves are reliable. With the offshore winds cleaning up waves at spots like Baby Padang and Dreamland, you’ll learn to read the ocean in its most ‘perfect’ form. If you want to fast-track your skills from zero to riding green waves, this is the season to do it.
November – March (The Wet Season): Best for Empty Lineups & Glassy East Coast, perfect for intermediate & advanced surfers.
The East Coast comes alive with glassy, offshore conditions. While there are still plenty of options for beginners in Nusa Dua area, the East Coast during these months is a high-performance playground. Think long, rippable walls and fast sections perfect for sharpening your technique.
Our Head Coach, Lempog, was born and raised on the East Coast. He doesn’t just know the famous breaks; he knows all the spots and the exact tides that make them fire. You’ll be guided by a lifetime of local knowledge.
Empty Peaks & Warm Water: The crowds thin out significantly, the water temperature rises, and as we mentioned—you’ll often find yourself sharing a world-class peak with fewer than five people.
The Shoulder Months (March, April, October, November): Best of Both Worlds
These months are fantastic because the winds are light and variable, meaning both coasts can be “firing” on the same day. It’s a great time for variety and slightly smaller crowds than mid-July.
What happens if the conditions are bad during our surf trip?
We believe you should only pay for the waves you actually get to surf. Unlike many surf trips that charge a flat fee regardless of the weather, we charge by the day to give you total flexibility.
The Early Morning Check: Every morning, our Head Coach personally will check the local breaks. If the wind is wrong or the swell is messy on the West Coast, we’ll head to the East Coast to find those clean, offshore sessions.
If the conditions truly are not ideal, we are more than happy for you to take a rest day. We won’t charge you for surfing that day—instead, we can help you explore the best of what Bali has to offer, from hidden waterfalls and temples to the best local cafes. Your trip, your pace.

What is the maximum number of people you can accommodate on a surf trip?
We love hosting a big crew! While we specialise in private and small-group coaching, we can accommodate groups of up to 12 surfers at a time for our custom trips.
To maintain our safety and coaching standards, we follow a strict ‘Ratio Rule’ and a daily capacity cap:
Dedicated Coaching Support (1:3): For every three surfers, we add an additional professional local coach. This ensures that even in a large group, you receive personalised feedback, stay safe, and never feel lost in the crowd.
The Daily Cap (15 Surfers Max): To ensure every student gets the highest quality coaching and to ensure we keep our presence respectful in the lineup alongside local surfers and next generation of Balinese groms, we cap our total school and trip capacity at 15 surfers per day. We believe in keeping the lineup respectful and to ensure you receive the focused, one-on-one attention.
Seamless Transport: We utilise pickups and/or vans to ensure everyone (and their boards) travels in total comfort.
Planning a trip for 10+ people? Please reach out via WhatsApp at least 3 weeks in advance. This gives us time to reserve our best coaches, coordinate our videographers, and organise transport for your dates.
I am really interested! How can I book with you?
If you have any further questions or you are interested in booking with us, please reach out to us via WhatsApp for the fastest response! Our team will be able to finalise the price with you.
We aim to reply within 1-3 hours. If the waves are firing, we might be in the water! But we promise to reply within 24 hours.
To confirm your booking, we require an IDR1,000,000 deposit. This amount will be fully deducted from the total cost of your surf trip.
Payment method: We accept PayPal, Wise Transfer or Revolut for your convenience.
As a small, independent school, we don’t have the margins to accommodate for frequent last-minute cancellations. This deposit allows us to reserve your coaches, drivers, and equipment exclusively for you, ensuring our local team is ready to roll the moment you arrive.
We understand that life happens! If an emergency prevents you from making it, your deposit is transferable. While non-refundable, we will credit the amount toward your next booking with us, so you never lose your investment in your surf journey!
